Product Owner

Position Summary

The Product Manager is a member of the Agile software development team at Proenco for Proarc, responsible for providing subject matter expertise and managing the product backlog to deliver new software releases. This role requires empathy for product end-users, solid understanding of customer business processes, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical team members.


  • Effectively deliver new feature releases that address product strategic priorities
  • Manage Sustaining Engineering initiatives to support customer satisfaction and protect software maintenance recurring revenue


New product development:

  • Collect and verify product requirements from customers, other stakeholders and market sources
  • Author and manage charter and change process for each product release with leadership team
  • Author Product Backlog Items (PBIs) based on requirements from Product Management
  • Follow INVEST principles for PBIs
  • Anticipate dependencies and issues
  • Keep ahead of planning and execution of future sprints
  • Refine and break down PBIs so that units of work can be completed within a sprint
  • Prioritize backlog to reflect goals and milestones in project charter and sprints
  • Support knowledge transfer and Q&A for development team on functional use cases
  • Provide rapid answers to questions from Agile team
  • Perform daily triage of bugs reported in sprints
  • Facilitate refinement and sprint planning meetings
  • Participate in all Agile SCRUM ceremonies including retrospective meetings and daily stand-ups
  • Facilitate demonstrations of sprint deliverables to stakeholders

Sustaining engineering:

  • Facilitate a weekly product maintenance triage meeting and approve or reject fixes to product defects
  • Develop plans for quarterly software maintenance releases
  • Communicate release plans and details to stakeholders


  • 4 to 8 years of experience as a Product Owner in a software development company
  • University degree, college diploma or equivalent in computer science or engineering
  • Certifications such as CSPO or PSPO will be an advantage
  • Experienced in working with offshore ESL development teams
  • Specific knowledge of use cases for managing information in engineering and construction projects is an asset, but not a requirement

In addition, you have relevant experience and knowledge within several of the following areas:

  • Delivering enterprise-class software for cloud and on-premise
  • Web-based application development and related technologies, Microsoft platform stack
  • Operation of Azure DevOps
  • Agile SCRUM development practices


  • You are an excellent technical communicator
  • You are proficient in oral and written communication to clients
  • You are proficient in creating user stories, splitting user stories, and user story mapping
  • You are action-oriented, social, committed, and structured
  • You deliver quality in your work and complete your commenced tasks
  • You must have the ability to speak and write fluently in Norwegian and English
  • You can handle several activities in parallel
